In this training, participants will learn instructional procedures to support learners in developing language, including both speaking and listening skills. Attendees will learn about the verbal operants including mands (requests), tacts (labels), echoics, motor imitation, listener response, and intraverbals. Participants will have hands-on opportunities to learn specific protocols for each verbal operant using evidence-based strategies including errorless teaching, reinforcement, prompting, and shaping. Error correction procedures will be taught and participants will learn to utilize data collection procedures to monitor student growth and skill acquisition. During this training, attendees will have the opportunity to demonstrate their competency with in-class learning activities as well as pre-/post- assessments and checks for understanding. This learning will be presented by Stacey Martin, MA, BCBA, LBA.
